FAQ and Other Notes

We’re excited to help your child get on track for reading success!

Please review all notes before registering.

What will my child learn?

We will conduct a reading skills assessment to identify the optimal starting point in the phonics curriculum. We will evaluate your child’s proficiency in reading both real and make-believe words.

When will tutoring start?

Tutoring starts on Mondays. In most cases, we can start within 1-2 weeks after registration. Due to the high demand, we strongly recommend registering promptly to secure a spot for the next available time.

What time will we meet?

During the registration process, you will provide us with the preferred tutoring time that works best for your family. We will make every effort to start tutoring within 1-2 weeks from that point.

How long is each tutoring session?

Consistency and concise sessions yield significant benefits. Each session lasts for a focused 20 minutes. You have the flexibility to choose between two enrollment options: either 3 sessions per week or 4 sessions per week.

How will my child connect to their tutor?

After completing registration, a Zoom meeting link will be sent to the email used when registering.
The same meeting link will be used for each session.

Communication

To facilitate communication, we’ll be using Remind. Once registration is complete, you will receive an invitation. Please sign up for text notifications from Remind so that you don’t miss any important messages.

Office Hours
Monday – Friday
Response Time:
You can expect to receive a response to your email within 24 hours. However, please keep in mind that our office hours do not include weekend days (Saturday and Sunday) or holidays.

What materials are required?

For optimal learning, it is recommended that the student be seated at a table in a quiet environment with minimal distractions to promote concentration and focus. A grown-up should be nearby in case technical assistance is needed.

Please also ensure that your child is equipped with the following materials:

  • Laptop or desktop computer. Please do not use a cell phone.
  • Wide-ruled writing notebook
  • Pencil
  • Headset
  • Mouse for easier management of interactive activities.
Learner expectations

Learner expectations are designed to create a positive and productive learning environment, and to help learners achieve their educational goals. By adhering to these expectations, students can maximize their learning potential and develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.

1. Respectful behavior: Learners are expected to treat their teachers with respect.
2. Active participation: Learners are expected to actively engage in the learning process. This helps to reinforce learning and deepen understanding.
3. Focus and attention: Learners are expected to maintain focus and attention during each session.

Progress monitoring

You will receive weekly notes with a link for practice at home. Formal skills assessments are completed every six weeks, contingent on consistent meetings and the student’s progress within the phonics curriculum.

Late arrivals

It is important to be logged in on time. Missed minutes will not be made up.
We will wait for late arrivals for 10 minutes, but if we don’t receive any communication regarding your child’s attendance for the tutoring session, we will log off.

Reschedule requests

Please provide at least 24 hour notice when requesting to reschedule a session. Rescheduling requests for more than 1 day, need 1 week notice.

Not providing such notice will result in the session being considered complete, and it will not be rescheduled.

Technical Issues

Please ensure you have a strong, stable reliable internet connection. Minutes or sessions missed due to technical issues will not be made up.

If the technical issues are on our end, we will make up the time.

Contract

There is currently no existing contract. However, if you plan to extend, pause, or end services, kindly inform us at least two weeks prior to the desired change.

It’s important to maintain consistent attendance when working with a tutor to achieve the best possible results. While it’s understandable that unexpected events can occur, excessive absences can hinder progress and prevent optimal use of the tutor’s time.

You may pause tutoring for a maximum of one week, once every three months. If you pause for longer than the specified time, we cannot guarantee that your preferred days and times will be available when you return.

Refunds

Refunds are not provided.
